SCUBA Diving Policies

The safety and enjoyment of our guests is of the utmost importance. With the exception
of occasional organized drift and shark dives on some itineraries, you are basically
free to dive as you will during the times the dive deck is open as long as you stay
within the bounds of recreational diving and use our sign-in/out board.
When the dive deck is open, there will always be a Divemaster on the dive deck itself
as well as another Divemaster on the sundeck doing 'bubble watch', and there will
always be a chase boat standing by in case divers get separated from the boat.
In keeping with the teachings of the major training agencies, we advocate the buddy
system and observe the recreational diving depth limit of 130 feet (40 meters) with
no decompression diving.
We do not support the collection of marine life, lobstering or spear fishing activities
(if we did, there would be less to see next time). We do support the Divers Alert
Network position that alcohol consumption prior to diving increases the risk of
decompression sickness therefore your first drink of the day will also mark you
last dive of the day. We encourage dive computers and reserve the right to spot
check.
We do require each guest sign an industry
typical liability release prior to diving onboard - a copy of the release will be
sent with your booking packet and is available on line
here . Please don't forget to bring you C-card with you as we are required
to check these. Nekton does offer Nitrox onboard - for more information
Your family may contact you in the event of a medical emergency via our office in
Fort Lauderdale Florida. We also have global satellite phones available for guests
onboard. The crew onboard is trained in first aid and diving accident management.
The boat is equipped with a complete first aid kit and oxygen system. Emergency
transportation and treatment cost are the responsibility of each guest. We strongly
recommend that you obtain special divers insurance, such as DAN or PADI.
We also strongly recommend that you purchase trip insurance through a 3rd party
provider to protect your vacation investment.
