While each Southern Bahamas cruise may vary due to weather and sea conditions, the outline below will give you a good feel for the adventure you could experience!
Saturday:
Plan to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale by 12:00 noon to check-in for the charter flight. Departure for George Town is between 1:00 - 1:30 from the Executive Airport. After a short taxi ride, you are welcome to board your Nekton Vessel. The Captain’s briefing will begin upon your arrival. Depending on arrival times and conditions, either depart George Town for Rum Cay or Cat Island or explore George Town and have dinner ashore. (Nekton will not navigate George Town harbor at night, so please remain flexible as to which evening is spent in George Town - Saturday or the following Friday night.)
Sunday - Friday:
Nekton departs for dive sites in the Exumas, Conception Island, San Salvador and Rum Cay or Cat Island. The diving at these islands includes dramatic, world-class wall diving. The walls begin at approximately 50 feet of water and plunge into the deep blue. Visibility is excellent -- consistently exceeding 100 feet. During the week, you’ll also experience a shark dive, have the opportunity to kayak to the uninhabited Conception Island and a shore excursion by tender to San Salvador.
Grandmothers Garden, a spectacular dive site at Conception Island is known for it's abundance of Yellowhead Jawfish.
Saturday:
Local taxi service is available with dock side pickup for transfers to the airport. Guests on afternoon flights are encouraged to take a dinghy shuttle to nearby Stocking Island for a self-guided tour/beach excursion. (Try the conch burgers with a cool beverage or climb Beacon Hill.)
REMEMBER DAN’s recommended waiting period between repetitive diving and flying. To maximize your diving, consider spending the night in Belize and flying home on Sunday.
Note: For everyone’s safety, we will not navigate the shallow George Town harbor at night or low tide, so arrival delays may require an overnight in George Town on the initial Saturday night. In this case, you are free to dine ashore in George Town Saturday night and the boat will return to George Town the following Saturday morning instead of Friday afternoon.
