Belize - Central and South Itinerarys

Join us to discover the incredible atolls of Glovers Reef, Turneffe Island, and Lighthouse Reef. Located on the Caribbean coast of Central America, Belize is a friendly English speaking country rich in history and unspoiled natural attractions ranging from its rainforests to its beautiful coral reefs. Travel to Belize City is easy and accessible by commercial jet service offered by USAirways, American, Continental, and Grupo Taca Airlines. If your schedule allows, we encourage you to spend a few days before or after your cruise to explore this beautiful ecotourism-minded country. Jungle resorts, river tubing, canoeing, jungle treks, tours of ancient Mayan ruins, the Belize Zoo - Belize has much to offer.

Saturday You are welcome to board your Nekton Liveaboard after 7:30 p.m. When your flight arrives on Saturday, a Nekton crew member will meet you at Belize's Philip Goldson International Airport International Airport (BZE). If you choose to take advantage of our shuttle service transportation ($25 USD includes both Saturdays), your luggage will be taken to your Nekton Liveaboard and depending on your arrival time you will either be taken directly to your Nekton Liveaboard or to the Princess Hotel and Casino. Please plan to eat or pick up dinner in Belize City prior to boarding as dinner will not be served onboard Saturday night. Pick-Up for transfer to your Nekton Liveaboard will be at the Princess Hotel and Casino at 7:15 p.m. The Captain's Briefing begins onboard at 8:00 p.m. with departure after.

Sunday - Friday Your Nekton Liveaboard departs for dive sites along the atolls of Lighthouse Reef and Turneffe Island. The Southern Itinerary also includes sites on Glovers Reef. The diving in Belize includes walls beginning at approximately 50 feet (15 meters) of water. Visibility is excellent along the walls typically exceeding 100 feet (30 meters). Depending the week, you will also have the opportunity to picnic on and explore scenic Half Moon Caye and its bird sanctuary. Enjoy at least 4 - 5 dives per day, including night dives. Because your Nekton Liveaboard is docking in Old Belize, it has to return to the dock during daylight hours on Friday to navigate the channels. However, usually you'll be offered a dawn dive and two other morning dives on Friday. We will then make or way in the port of Old Belize giving you time to gather, rinse and dry your gear.  Otherwise, a typical day goes something like this:

6 - 9:00 a.m. Breakfast Buffet (optional dawn dive on some days)
8:00 a.m. Dive briefing on sundeck followed by open diving
10:00 a.m. Mid-morning snack
11:45 a.m. Back onboard
12:00 noon While Lunch is Served, boat moves to afternoon dive site
1:00 p.m. Dive site briefing on sundeck followed by open diving
3:00 p.m. Mid-afternoon snack
5:45 p.m. Back onboard
6:00 p.m. Dinner is served followed by evening slide presentation
8:00 p.m. Dive deck opens again for night dive
10:00 p.m. Depart for tomorrow morning's new dive site

Saturday Check-out time is 8:00 a.m. If you are taking advantage of our shuttle service, we will transport you to either Belize's Goldson International airport or to the Princess Hotel and Casino. We can also suggest a fascinating tour of the Ancient Mayan ruins of Altun Ha. That tour runs from 9 a.m. until 12 noon (tour cost is $85 USD per guest). With this tour, the drivers can have you back at the Goldson International Airport by 12 noon on that Saturday.
